Simulation of the main wind load for the facilities of berth No.3
Simulation of the main wind load (average and pulsation components) and peak wind load for designed structures of the berth was performed involving CFD approach.
Due to significant impact of the construction site elevations on the nature of the wind flow the simulation considers the relief of the surrounding area spanning 5 km from the surveyed point.
During the simulation of the main wind load and peak wind loads, the area relief was reproduced and imported in Simcenter STAR-CCM+ CFD simulation program on the basis of the open-source altitude heat map.
Simulation of the external wind flow of the surveyed object was performed by 24 wind directions with step 15° and wind speed in compliance with RС 20.133330.2011.
High Values of pressure coefficients derived from CFD simulation are associated with the influence of air flows descending from the tops of the mountains.
The obtained values of the main wind load were used by the designers for durability estimation.
